Primary & Secondary Assembly & Packaging
What is the difference between Primary & Secondary Assembly & Packaging?
Primary assembly consists of both the mixing assembly and the packaging process when it comes in direct contact with the actual product. For example: mixing and then filling liquids directly from 300 gallon totes into 16 ounce jars. The 16 ounce jar is the primary package.
Secondary assembly is the kitting and packing of products into master cases or displays. For example, a variety of different flavors (or sizes) are packaged and then placed into a retail display. The retail display is the secondary package.
